Special education vision or hearing

The steps you need to take to become a special education hearing or vision impairment teacher through STEP depend on your current qualifications. The amount of study you will need to complete is outlined below.

Approved primary or secondary teachers need to complete an approved post-graduate program at masters level in sensory disabilities.

Other opportunities for future special education teachers

Special education teachers are in high-demand in NSW public schools. The department also offers the Inclusive Practice in Education Scholarship to support DoE teachers and executives to complete a masters in special education and inclusive education.
