Who is eligible to apply for a NSW Premier’s Teacher Scholarship?

All teachers who are currently teaching in NSW government and non-government schools and TAFE NSW Institutes are eligible to apply for a NSW Premier's Teacher Scholarship.

If I am successful in obtaining a NSW Premier’s Teacher Scholarship when will I be able to travel?

2017 NSW Premier's Teacher Scholarships are awarded for a five week study tour that should occur between 1st January and the 30th June 2017. Long service leave cannot be added to the study tour. Premier's Teacher Scholarship study tours can include school holiday periods within the five weeks but school holidays cannot be added to the itinerary as additional time away. If the school holidays are included during the five week study tour you must use all of the time that you are away to undertake the research study.

What sorts of places can I visit?

You can visit any place that will provide information on the questions specified in your research study. This could be schools, TAFE colleges and campuses, Department of Education offices in Australia and /or overseas, universities and libraries. You can attend conferences or short courses at an educational institution.

Are there any limitations on where I can go to do my study?

You can undertake your study in Australia or in any other country or countries for which the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade does not advise against all travel or non-essential travel.

Can I go to more than one country?

You can visit more than one country if that can be achieved in the time available and if this is within your budget.

What if I don’t want to go overseas?

You can undertake your study in Australia. You can visit other states or visit schools and educational institutions In New South Wales.

Can I add my holidays to the time I am away?

You are able to attach your special leave to the beginning or the end of a school holiday period but you must use all of the time that you are away to undertake the research study. For example, you cannot fly overseas at the beginning of the school vacation, holiday for two weeks and then start your research study.
